In honor of the Irish culture, I wanted to share a picture of our beautiful unity candle that we had at our wedding. We wanted to showcase my husband's Irish heritage so we had a custom candle made with a Claddagh and the Irish Wedding Blessing.
The Claddagh is on top and is basically two hands holding a heart with a crown on top. It symbolizes love (heart), loyalty (crown), and friendship (hands). It makes for a beautiful wedding ring.
Traditionally, when the Claddagh ring is worn on the right hand with the design facing inward and toward your body, it designates that you are in a relationship. If the ring faces outward on the right hand, it suggests that the person is not in a relationship or may be looking for one.
The Claddagh ring is also worn on the left hand. When facing away from the body, the wearer is engaged. When facing inward, the person is married.
This reminds me. I wear my ring on my right hand so I should probably turn my ring towards me.
