Fadó is the perfect place to visit when you crave a little taste of Ireland but can’t afford the extraordinary travel expense. Their authentic décor and atmosphere is where I like to unwind after a long day with a pint of Strongbow Cider or Guinness while munching on traditional Irish dishes.
Fadó’s warm hospitality and surroundings makes it a popular stop for locals. The second level is also a perfect spot for private parties and one day I will plan a rehearsal dinner there!
To help you get through a night of fun at Fadó, here are a few Irish terms you may need to be familiar with.
Baileys Coffee – coffee with Bailey’s Irish Cream. Fadó serves the best Bailey’s Coffee in town with fresh whipped cream and topped with cinnamon in swirls (for the Fadó logo)
Bangers – Sausages
Boxty – traditional Irish potato pancake.
Craic – friendly conversation; fun, enjoyment
Fadó (pronounced f’doe) – long ago
Football – not the American kind
Irish Coffee – coffee with Irish Whiskey
Rasher – a thin slice of fried or broiled bacon
Soda Bread – quick bread which uses soda as a leavener
Must try menu item:
Cheese Dip and Wedges - A creamy blend of three cheeses served with boxty wedges for dipping.
If you’re free on Thursdays, stop by after 9:30 pm to watch Darby O’Gill and the Little People perform at Fadó!
Hope to see you there!
