Simple Elegance in Cake Design Grand Opening

Tonight is the official Grand Opening celebration of my friend Dane Bethea's shop!  Dane is the talented baker/cake designer owner of Simple Elegance in Cake Design.  There's nothing more I love than a good party. Well, except when you add the element of tea to it. Dane has always told me about his dream of opening up a tea room one day.  He and I share a love for tea however his knowledge is obviously much greater than mine. I'm so thrilled and proud that his dream has become a reality!

The Simple Elegance Tea Room is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 10:30 am for coffee, pastries, and scones.  Lunch is served from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm.  Reservations are required for high tea which is served from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm.  The Simple Elegance Tea Room is also available for private parties.  What a neat way to celebrate!

How did you get started in cake design?

I am backwards, I was talked into taking a cake decorating class while I lived in Phoenix.  My instructor asked me to become an instructor, and before long I was doing 6 cakes a weekend out of my house.  I had to learn to bake a cake to put my decorating on.  With my love of alcohol I incorporated the two in one yummy taste.

If you didn't do cakes for a living, what would you be doing instead? I'd probably do something to make me some money.

What are some of your hobbies? I love dancing county dances, and I teach line dancing each week. Love shows and theater... and of course dining out prior to these.

What is your inspiration? I love hearing the ooo's and awh's when they taste the cake for the first time.  I love to see the look in the brides eyes when she sees her cake on the day of... or seeing her cake ideas put together to put her inspirations in to cake form.

Name an exotic location you'd like to visit soon. I am dying to go to Hawaii .... some day.

Why do your clients choose you over some of your competitors? I really thing they enjoy the tasting experience firstly.  Who doesn't like moist cake, and coffee or tea on Lenox China?  I'm trying to offer the customer service that I had while working at the Ritz Carlton and the Four Seasons.

What is the best piece of advice you can offer a bride and groom on their wedding day? Remember to do what YOU like, don't try to please all the guests invited.  They are coming to celebrate YOUR DAY, and everything should reflect your interests and what you like.

Registration is open for the Las Vegas Bridal Tour

Inaugural Wedding Event Set to Ease the Stress of Planning the Big Day

Las Vegas, NV - Planning a wedding is never easy, even in Las Vegas. On May 3, 2009, Green Orchid Events presents the inaugural Las Vegas Bridal Tour, an event sure to help ease the stress of planning the big day. The couture bridal tour will feature a select group of vendors ready to serve the chic and hip Las Vegas bride-to-be.

Throughout the day brides-to-be will have the opportunity to meet vendors in an intimate setting while receiving savvy planning tips from Juliet Douglas, owner of Green Orchid Events. Participating vendors include: Alt F, BBJ Linen, Canyon Ranch SpaClub, Earth Limos & Buses, Enchanted Florist, Simple Elegance in Cake Design and Wolfgang Puck Café at Springs Preserve.

The tour begins at 9:30AM at the Canyon Ranch SpaClub. Guests will be chauffeured throughout the day on an Earth Bus. Tickets for the tour are available for purchase at http://lasvegasbridaltour.eventbrite.com. Tickets are $70 until April 22, 2009 and include a champagne brunch at Springs Preserve Café by Wolfgang Puck and a Simple Elegance in Cake Design tasting.
