How did you get started in calligraphy? I started learning when I was 12, but I started my calligraphy business on the side over 5 years ago when my best friend got married. After that my father encouraged me to start a website and it's grown from there.
If you didn't do calligraphy for a living, what would you be doing instead? I would travel -- I don't think I could ever work for anyone else again, I love owning my own company.
What are some of your hobbies? Painting and drawing, I like the beach, hiking, running, I dabble at golfing and photography, and I love Sudoku puzzles!
Name an exotic location you’d like to visit soon. I just came back from a vacation in the Caribbean but would love to visit Europe again or Australia sometime soon.
Why do your clients choose you over some of your competitors? Two reasons: One, because of the variety, I am proficient in over 25 different calligraphy styles, and it's a one-stop shop: you can order everything from invitations, maps, calligraphy, reception items all from me. Two because of the customer service. I personally oversee everything that goes on in my business. Every piece of art that leaves the studio is created by me and has my signature on it, and I strive to maintain excellent standards of quality and provide every client with the best customer service possible. I have heard from many of my clients that we are the easiest vendor to deal with in the entire wedding planning process.
What is the best piece of advice you can offer a bride and groom on their wedding day? Plan ahead! Oh, and you get what you pay for. I know that everyone is on a budget these days, but you can still get excellent products on a budget. We can and do work with tight budgets everyday.
Anything else you'd like to share? I just received notice this week that I was chosen as a WeddingbeePRO blogger and I am very excited about it!
