Wedding Word Wednesday: First Look
In 2010, I wrote about the "First Look" and why couples should consider doing a first look before their wedding ceremony. Photographers call this a number of things including, "First Sight", "Reveal" or even "First Glance". Basically, your photographer will stage the first time you see each other for the very first time. Instead of this taking place at the wedding ceremony, it is set up ahead of time before formal portraits are taken. There are many reasons for this. Photographers love this because it allows for more photography time. My favorite reason, besides plenty of time for photos, is that the couple will get to spend some quality time together before the ceremony. If you've ever been married, you realize that ALL eyes are on you when you walk down the aisle. It's a beautiful moment and yet it isn't so private and is extremely nerve wracking for shyer types. After the ceremony is over, you're whisked away for photos and then the reception starts. The rest of the night is spent greeting and thanking guests. With a First Look, you're able to get rid of some of the jitters as well as spend a few moments alone together. Also, so many couples find that this is so much less stressful!

Alice in Wonderland Baby Shower
Our friends Sara and Angelica planned a really adorable Alice in Wonderland inspired co-ed baby shower for us back in March! I just love all the bright colors! Our yummy food (excluding desserts) was catered by Renaissance Catering and our friends over at Enchanted Florist provided all the beautiful flowers. A HUGE thanks to The Pottery Shop for letting us invade their shop and for setting up some of the pretty decor.
We had so much fun!!
Our friend Chelsea Nicole captured some cool images. You should see the kind of work she does at a WEDDING. THANK YOU again!!
Also, our party was recently featured on the Pepper Design Blog! How exciting!

NYC Couple Amber and Bill to wed in Las Vegas!
Amber and Bill are getting married tomorrow! Amber is a Las Vegas native who lives in New York! How fun and exciting!
Their wedding is inspired by the glitz and glamour of 1950s/1960s Las Vegas and will take place at Red Rock Casino following a church ceremony at Guardian Angel Cathedral.
I'm looking forward to working with my talented wedding florist friends over at Enchanted Florist as well as fabulous Las Vegas wedding photographer Chelsea Nicole!
P.S. I can't wait to see the showgirls. And no, I'm not being sarcastic.
My New Headshots by Chelsea Nicole
I was long overdue for professional head shots for my website. The only professional photos I had were bridal photos that I did for fun with my friend Candace Simpson from Elegant Images or photos as a singer in full stage makeup and costume - neither of which are appropriate for a wedding planner's website and blog. After talking to Liene Stevens of Splendid Communications during a recent Blogging Bootcamp seminar, I scheduled my photo session with Chelsea Nicole! The photos are ready so check out her blog! I'll be blogging about my photos once I see the rest of them and pick out my personal favorites!

PUG stands for "Pictage Users Group" and we've got a local chapter! The Las Vegas Pug group is open to all professional photographers and anyone interested can find out more information on the Las Vegas PUG Page: vegaspug.wordpress.com Check out the below video from the most recent meeting of these talented young Las Vegas wedding photographers (Chelsea Nicole, Adam Trujillo, Suzi Lighten) in action!
I had so much fun watching this video that I had to ask my friends if I could share this with you!
